School Update:
School Update:
Social Media – district helped us set it up, automatically posting through December; another way to communicate to current parents/guardians, and to future families (kinder orientation/registration is coming up); a way to highlight what is happening in classrooms
Student ambassadors have been doing a lot of tours for future students and families
Yearbook – create Drive for photos; teachers are helping with the class collage pages
o Could we set up a club for some students to help out? We would need a teacher to sponsor the club, but could have parent volunteers run it (next year maybe?)
o PTO event page if we have pictures
o Could also feature some poetry and art from some select students (future year ideas)
o PTO to set aside some money for those that can't afford it so we can try and make sure everyone gets one.
o Laura is running point on this for Christine.
· Turkey Round Up – Nov 16 – student ambassadors collecting turkeys in front and back of the school; we need to have someone on call to help with transporting turkeys in case we need the extra space. Brittany will be on call to help
· Kindergarten Open House – Nov 28 from 9-11; Nov 29 – 1-3pm; Kinder Orientation is the following week from 6-7pm
· 13 Days of Joy for the Staff – visiting with team leaders tomorrow to plan events; includes a staff breakfast and lunch
· Book Vending Machine – grant and how will we maintain and pay for books? We have someone who has agreed to donate the money for the book vending machine; we would like this donation to come through the PTO; price will be determined by wrap, large vs. small books
o Linda will most likely be responsible for ordering book – we would like to use Scholastic dollars
· Fence Decorating – Christine would like to do this second semester
· Goals for this:
1. Gets the kids involved with a project at their school
2. Helps beautify the fence along Lemay
3. Marketing for the school
PTO would fund this
Action: Need to decide what we want to say and get a quote
· Nature Center Picnic tables are in, and it looks really good! Kids have been hanging out at the tables, reading and writing in journals; Teachers are spending time out there.
Mini Grants
Little Kids Rock – request for another Para to help; as a classified employee can’t use duty pay for the extra hour she is here; request is for $1,000 for her time - APPROVED
Community Night Fundraisers
Urban Air- Nov 8th from 4:00-8:00pm; It seemed like it was busier than the last one. We made about half of what we made the first one, most likely because of a lot of memberships ($225)
Qdoba – December 6th 4:00-8:00pm; people just mention it when they go in. Specific to the Magnolia/Lemay location
Book Fair - week of Nov 13,: sign up looked good, no one showed up to help set up, we still have things to do. Actual sign ups for next week are looking pretty good. Anabella will be here all next week to help.
No classes are visiting to buy during the day on Monday; we will be doing the Monday night family shopping – 3:45-6:00pm. Heather will follow up if we need more help on Monday to finish setting up
Clean up – Next Friday after school
Holiday Staff Gifts
Corrine will lead this; we could spend $20-25 each. Including all staff, including bus drivers and crossing guard.
$20 for 20
Raised about $3,000 after the first week against a budget of $4,000
Can we add a QR code to the flier, and can we create yard signs for out front with the QR code as people are dropping off/picking up – let’s update the flyer for this year and then do signs for the walk-a-thon – Heather will work on the QR code and update the flier
Fall PTO Social - need to adjust a date due to Hanukkah week; will send a poll about date and location
Budget
hovering around $55,000K; Nature center spend came in at $12,000 vs. a budget commitment of $40,000
Fundraising update
Walk-a-thon:
We need to identify what specifically we are raising money for
Possible ideas: sun shades for the playground; media center update; entire pod classroom update for outdated rooms, additional nature center improvements; additional seating at the playground; or computer lab refresh
Christine/Shirley to ask staff for ideas
American Furniture Warehouse – we made a little under $300 bucks last year; if you mention Tavelli
Morning Fresh Caps – about $100 quarterly
Box Tops - $4,50 last month – could we communicate about how to do this?
King Soopers - About $2600 per quarter
General Updates
Audio Speakers to events: PTO purchasing 2 sets; APPROVED
Holiday staff gifts: 71 Amazon gift cards are here; want to do a consumable with it (coffee, tea and chocolate) – Molly will check on coffee, Corrine checking on Tea/Chocolate
Budget is posted on the website – we can also publish the by-laws as well
Lost and Found Volunteer committee: going through ad pulling things with names to try and get them back to kids; could be a great way for people to get involved that don’t want to run an event, or maybe have limited time – items without names are usually donated to the Bamford Pack Pantry
Directory – second round opt-in next semester
