School and Nature Center Update

  • Movie night was super fun, thanks PTO!
    ◦ Need to think about getting a different speaker for next time
    ◦ Parent/teacher conferences are underway

  • PTO sponsored Dinner Wednesday night 10/18 : 40-45 people - Qdoba - Brittany will order

  • Unified improvement plan - needed every two years, this year Tavelli re-wrote it to align it to the district goals - Literacy, Graduate with Options, Mental Health and Well Being, and Math acceleration. Exceeding growth in areas of students with disabilities. Graduating with option - looking at adding more clubs for students to expand options for learning... exploring a Spanish club for next semester. We have clubs every night of the week. Looking into funding options to help with students who need it. Our goal would be 50% participation in clubs. Also trying to get parents in the building to build a sense of community and belonging.

  •  Tshirts were fabulous for the Community Classic

  • Halloween class parties 10/27

  •  American education week is middle of November, doing a staff potluck that Wednesday of that wee

  • Battle of the books is starting soon – Applications due 10/17

  • Turkey Round Up - want to do a bigger push advertising for more participation in the turkey round up - can we give kids a little ticket when they drop off a turkey and then teachers collect them and the class with the most wins a prize? Christine will follow up with when Turkeys are due.

  • Spirit Gear: made $369 this year!

  • 9 people submitted for the King Soopers drawing.

  • Collecting staff favorite things and those will go on the website before the holidays.

  • The Nature Center project is underway.  They will be pouring concrete on Friday, Oct. 20th.  Once the concrete is cured they will install the picnic tables. Nature center: concrete $10,000 for under tables, picnic tables are in. Trying to see if we can get a visual put together to showcase the goals for nature center improvement to help with fundraising.

  • School directory went out today to everyone who opted into the PTO student directory.

  • Movie night recap: need some lights and a new sound speaker - or need to test the speakers that Mr Deal has. We should do it again in the Spring

Funding Requests:

  • Fence decorating ask: every class could be a part of helping out it up in the fence- also a great way to advertise our school and help drive up enrollment. Trying to figure out ways to sell our school – Mini grant request form needed

  • Christine would also love to get a book vending machine - kids use tokens to purchase books. Warner has one and it's really neat. We could use scholastic books and scholastic dollars - they are around $5,000 - Mini grant request form needed

Community Night Fundraisers:

  • Urban Air- Nov 8th from 4:00-8:00pm

  • Qdoba - we are looking to do first week of December( avoiding Hanukkah)

Book Fair

  • Week of Nov 13th. Confirmation is coming next week of when books will be delivered, and we can schedule set up time. Heather is creating a sign up genius for volunteers. No library specials time that Monday, should we do the community family shopping night? - Monday will be the best day, from 3:45-6:00 (after buses leave). Annabella will be here every day that week to lead the volunteers. Jane will be including details about e-wallet sign up next week in the Thursday note

Holiday Staff Gifts

  • Corrine/Melissa will lead this, we could spend $20-25. Including all staff, including bus drivers

Yearbook

  • We are doing this with Skillman this year. How can the PTO help? If we have pictures from events, Christine will set up a Google drive for this. PTO to set aside some money for those that can't afford it so we can try and make sure everyone gets one. Laura is the running point on this for Christine.

$20 for 20

  • Using the same flyer as last year. Let's award two classes with pizza or popcorn party - one class with the largest dollar amount, and the class with the most participation.

Fall PTO Social

  • Need to adjust a date due to Hanukkah week.

Learning Garden

  •  Garden: we will need a few parent volunteers to help with a winter take down/prep- Erin is working to coordinate this. Also finding kids to help pollinate the strawberry plants that moved into the towers inside. Working with Ms. McKelvey to get a garden club going.

Budget

  • Need to get this posted on the PTO website.
