School and Nature Center Update
· Tables have been ordered, they will be here soon, concrete pour has been scheduled.
Learning Garden Update:
· We had a lot of help over the summer with the MAC bus
· 25lbs of product were donated
· Classrooms are doing harvest days
· Everything in the garden is edible, so leads to lots of curiosity among the students
· Page on website for the Garden volunteers to sign up – those signups will go to the PTO Gmail inbox. Those just need to be forwarded to the garden email
Yearbook:
Laurel Elementary uses Skillman, their example yearbook is $20-$25.
The Yearbook is happening for 2023-2024!
The School will contact those kids that are Opt-Out and see if they want to be included.
School Visit for High Performing Schools Grant
Sept 28th: a school that is low performing or in turnaround will come visit and learn from us
Two Presentations on State equity Conference: one on the MAC bus and one on our data equity
School Performance framework – we are very close to where we were pre-covid; exceeding growth in sub category of students with disabilities
Updates on “Secure Incident”
Secure issue: those happen outside of the school, everything within the school is operating as normal, kids just can’t go outside. The situation was happening outside of the building
Classroom Halloween Parties
Oct 27: PTO will donate the usual amount per classroom
Donation given to PTO for staff incentives
Spirit Gear:
· As of 9/13, 59 items purchased, minimum was 50 so we are doing well
Teacher’s Favorite Things
· 32 respondents so far, we have about 65 staff total at Tavelli
PTO Student Directory
· We will do another flyer out and put in the Thursday note
Community Classic:
Angie Trybe and Kim Olsen are organizing the banner walk out – need about 6-8 kids. If children are interested in participating this way, reach out to Ms. Trybe or Ms. Olsen
Tavelli Movie Night
Next Thursday 9/21: Need to ensure NO Students are playing on the equipment during the movie night. Need volunteers to help with this. Amanda will be donating use of large speakers. Heather will pick up to test ahead of time
Mario Bros was suggested, Brittany owns it and is checking to make sure it can be downloaded
We will reach out to Rob Deakin to see if he has any recommendations
Purchase individual microwave popcorn to each student so they can bring back a snack or enjoy it at home – Brittany will be purchasing – about 508 with preschool
Messaging on the popcorn : NO Unattended Children, Playground is OFF LIMITS; put PTO website on the bottom
Power is at the stage area
Community Nights:
Urban Air – Confirmed for Spirit Night Nov 8th; add this to the website calendar
Qdoba – Dec
Potential ideas for second semester: SMOK, Penrose, Café Mexicali
